Emergency Care

If you run into an issue during your time in orthodontic treatment, Dr. Culberson and his staff are always here to provide emergency care. However, there are certain issues you may be able to take care of yourself, saving you a trip to the office.

Problems with Braces
& Retainers

If a wire is causing irritation, cover the end with a small ball of brace wax until you can get to the orthodontist. If a wire gets stuck in the cheek, tongue or gum tissue, do not attempt to remove it. Contact us immediately.

If an appliance becomes loose or a piece of it breaks off, contact us for an appointment to repair it. If your next scheduled appointment is more than a few days away, you should call for an appointment to repair the appliance as soon as possible.

Objects Caught Between the Teeth

Try to gently remove the object with dental floss and avoid cutting the gums. Do not use a sharp instrument. If you’re not successful in removing the object, contact our office.
